Job Title: Direct Care Specialist

Reports to: Shelter Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Care Specialist to join our team at the Poverello Center Inc. The successful candidate will provide exceptional support services to our residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Check individuals in for lunch and dinner.
  • Complete weekend day staff duties/special assignments as directed by kitchen manager.
  • Provide services to residents of the Poverello Center consistent with the rules of occupancy and the organization's mission.
  • Provide assistance to residents as needed.
  • Perform area inspections in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain safety through rule enforcement.
  • Document rule violations and records incident reports.
  • Maintain accurate records in the log.
  • Work collaboratively with other service providers to meet client needs.
  • Perform general office and clerical duties.
  • Staff the office, answer phone calls, and direct calls as appropriate.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement if required.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
