Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Meat Department Manager to lead our team. As a Meat Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat department, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster a positive and customer-focused work environment by promoting excellent relations with associates and customers

• Ensure high-quality merchandise by implementing proper product handling techniques and maintaining a clean and organized store environment

• Collaborate with the Meat Manager to execute daily functions, including merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement, and customer service

• Develop and implement sales and merchandising plans for the department to ensure optimal stock levels and freshness

• Monitor competitor activity concerning merchandising, pricing, quality, and comparison signage

• Oversee department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders, and supplies

• Assist with scheduling all department associates, participate in training, rewards, and recognizes performance

• Manage inventory levels and reviews orders to ensure product quantities meet customer demand

• Maintain backroom organization and product storage within company guidelines

• Verify all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing

• Control department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, controlling labor costs, and reducing losses due to damages, spoiled product, and shrink

• Maintain meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand

• Set up displays and rotate product as needed

• Ensure that meat is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage

• May grind and cut certain meats and poultry

• Weigh and wrap merchandise at; applies sticker showing correct price and weight

• Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality

• Adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or utilizing kitchen tools

• Maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures

• Responsible for general sanitation in the department

• Follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements

Qualification Requirements:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required

• Associate or bachelor's degree in business-related or food service-related field desirable

• Minimum (2) years' experience in management in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment

• Meat management experience preferred
