Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Access Lead Representative to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of the Patient Access Services team, you will be responsible for coordinating, assigning, and guiding the work activities of other Pre-Registration and Registration staff. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and implement workflow changes to improve patient throughput and registration efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assign work activities for Pre-Registration and Registration staff
  • Monitor work schedules and queues to ensure efficient patient registration and financial clearance
  • Develop and maintain departmental guidelines and templates for Pre-Registration and Registration
  • Train and mentor new and existing staff on Pre-Registration and Registration procedures
  • Implement and improve workflows for Pre-Registration and Registration to improve patient throughput and registration efficiency
  • Assist in evaluating patient scheduling and registration issues and communicate resolution steps or changes in work effort to staff
  • Provide positive guidance and direction to staff on matters of scheduling/registration protocols and process flows
  • Evaluate patient experience or internal stakeholder satisfaction issues and escalate to supervisor or manager as necessary
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with patients, staff, and enterprise stakeholders
Requirements
  • Associate's degree with 2 years' working experience in customer service, public health, healthcare, or related industry
  • In lieu of degree, a minimum of 4 years' demonstrated excellence working in customer service, call center, healthcare, or other related industry requiring skills which demonstrate experience in access services, insurance reimbursement, or payment collection
Preferred Qualifications
  • Billing, Accounts Receivable or Customer Service and/or Call Center experience
