Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our launch team and contribute to our groundbreaking research in immunology and functional genomics. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing high-throughput assays, culturing primary human immune cells, and designing novel protocols for screening and validating novel targets.
Key Responsibilities- Prioritize and Develop Screening Phenotypes: Identify and prioritize screening phenotypes in primary immune cells with therapeutic translatability to human autoimmune disease.
- Develop Immunological Assays: Design and develop immunological, biological, and biochemical assays to screen and validate novel targets and their associated mechanisms.
- Optimize Cell Culture and Assays: Optimize primary human T cell and other lymphocyte or myeloid culture, and develop novel protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with culturing, differentiating, and screening primary human immune cells.
- Flow Cytometry and FACS: Perform flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) of primary human cells.
- High-Throughput Screening: Design and optimize high-throughput base editing screens to identify sites on proteins with functional consequences in autoimmune relevant phenotypes.
- Collaboration and Communication: Close collaboration with a team of Scientists and Research Associates to ensure timely completion of projects and creation of a large map of genomic sites impacting immune cells.
- Staying Current with Emerging Literature: Stay up-to-date with emerging scientific literature and share ideas liberally.
- Ph.D. in Immunology or Related Field: Ph.D. in immunology or a related field, with 0-3 or more years of laboratory (industrial or postdoctoral) experience.
- Experience with Immunological Assays: Experience with immunological assay development and flow cytometry and/or FACS, with a preference for high-throughput methods.
- Experience with Cell Culture: Experience with mammalian cell culture, with a preference for primary cells.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to Learn and Adapt: Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
- Scientific Excellence: Evidence of scientific excellence and impact as illustrated by scientific publications and presentations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Leadership Potential: Self-starter with an interest in building a team from the ground up at a brand new start-up.
