The Retail Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in enhancing the customer journey and fostering a sales-oriented culture within the store. Embracing Petco's vision of Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World, the Supervisor serves as a mentor and model for all engagement points with Petco customers. This role supports the General Manager in cultivating and managing a high-performing team that consistently achieves sales growth while prioritizing the welfare and proper care of all animals. Additionally, the Supervisor aids in overseeing all facets of the store's operations in alignment with Petco's standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual must be capable of executing all of the following tasks with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Effectively implement a customer-focused culture in the store by leading various initiatives and completing assigned projects.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience with every interaction.
  • Utilize strong business acumen to assess, analyze, and address business trends, employing critical thinking to execute improvement strategies.
  • Oversee store operations, training, communication, and adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Drive the execution of customer-centric initiatives, including seasonal promotions and sales, to achieve and surpass sales objectives.
  • Train, coach, and develop team leaders and store associates in all operational areas to ensure efficiency and compliance with Petco standards.
  • Foster a culture of inventory management to guarantee an outstanding customer experience across all channels.
  • Ensure effective scheduling to optimize operational and sales floor coverage.
  • Guide and mentor dog training associates in delivering consistent service experiences aligned with Petco's Brand Standards.
  • Encourage a positive team culture by collaborating with the leadership team, setting priorities, and providing clear guidance.
  • Exhibit a commitment to continuous improvement and a growth mindset.
  • Show a genuine interest in various animal species.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and take on responsibilities as the Leader on Duty to promote sales engagement.

Supervisory Role:

The Retail Operations Supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing Guest Services and Dog Training functions within the store.

Work Environment:

This position primarily involves indoor tasks, although occasional activities such as stocking merchandise and customer assistance may require brief departures from the store. Due to the physical nature of the role, including lifting and standing for extended periods, adherence to safety protocols is essential. Some travel may be necessary.

Contact with Others:

This role entails regular interaction with the public at the store and during related events, as well as ongoing communication with various departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and Support Centers. External contact may also be necessary for coordinating merchandise returns, ordering supplies, and managing store events.
