Key Responsibilities
  • Identify educational needs based on internal metrics and develop targeted training programs to address these needs.
  • Create and deliver comprehensive education sessions for coders and departments on accurate medical record documentation and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain coding educational tools and resources to support the coder education program.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and provide ongoing support to ensure coders have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties accurately.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coding practices align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines and regulations, and apply this knowledge to improve coding practices and reduce errors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in hospital trauma 1 coding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Approved American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) coding credential.
