Key Responsibilities- Identify educational needs based on internal metrics and develop targeted training programs to address these needs.
- Create and deliver comprehensive education sessions for coders and departments on accurate medical record documentation and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
- Develop and maintain coding educational tools and resources to support the coder education program.
- Conduct regular training sessions and provide ongoing support to ensure coders have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties accurately.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coding practices align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines and regulations, and apply this knowledge to improve coding practices and reduce errors.
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in hospital trauma 1 coding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
- Approved American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) coding credential.
