Job Summary

Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies, LLC is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for abstracting E/M, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifier, and units from medical records. Your expertise will ensure accurate coding, compliance with federal and state laws, and effective communication with staff and providers.

Key Responsibilities

Assign ICD-10 CM and CPT codes with modifiers for services provided in the facility environment.
Demonstrate thorough understanding and ability to research all aspects of coding, compliance, documentation, and reimbursement for assigned clients and specialties.
Review medical records and applicable documentation to determine the appropriate codes to assign for services and diagnoses.
Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
Utilize coding resources and reference materials to ensure accuracy in coding for assigned services.
Maintain accurate client worksheets and deliverables, and monitor clients for potential compliance concerns.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years professional fee coding job experience.
Associates or bachelors in health information preferred but not required.
Must be a certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA).
Knowledge of ICD, CPT, HCPCS, anatomy, and physiology, medical necessity, modifiers, and denials.
Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently.
