Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary
Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Trainer to join our team. As a Medical Coding Trainer, you will be responsible for training new and existing coders, developing educational resources, and analyzing internal data metrics to improve coding quality and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify educational needs based on internal metrics and create tailored education plans.
- Develop and deliver education sessions on accurate medical record documentation and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
- Conduct education for coders and departments on coding compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate and proper coding and sequencing per government and insurance regulations.
- Collaborate with vendors and departments to improve coding quality and documentation.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in HIM or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in hospital trauma 1 coding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
- Leadership skills and abilities required.
