Job Summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Trainer to join our team. As a Medical Coding Trainer, you will be responsible for training new and existing coders, developing educational resources, and analyzing internal data metrics to improve coding quality and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify educational needs based on internal metrics and create tailored education plans.
  • Develop and deliver education sessions on accurate medical record documentation and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
  • Conduct education for coders and departments on coding compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and proper coding and sequencing per government and insurance regulations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and departments to improve coding quality and documentation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in HIM or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in hospital trauma 1 coding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
  • Leadership skills and abilities required.
