Medical Coding Specialist

CaduceusHealth is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team in the Cardiology department. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient medical records to ensure accurate coding and compliance with medical and legal standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems, as well as experience working in a medical billing environment. You will be responsible for reviewing medical records to assure proper billing, comparing physician-chosen codes to documentation, and identifying professional services for accurate optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with modifiers for services provided in the professional fee environment.
- Review medical records and applicable documentation to determine appropriate codes for services and diagnoses.
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
- Utilize coding resources and reference materials to ensure accuracy in coding.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.
- Review and resolve coding edits and denials, and assist with rebilling claims when necessary.
- Maintain a working knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry guidance impacting compliant coding.
- Meet coder productivity and quality goals.
Requirements:
- AAPC CPC certification.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology anatomy and physiology.
- Experience working in a medical billing environment with strong compliance with protected health information and HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Work Environment:
A standard business environment exists with moderate noise levels. Ability to lift and move approximately thirty (30) pounds non-routinely. Ability to sit for extended periods and handle computer usage for extended periods.
