Job Description

Volt is seeking a skilled Mechanical Planner to join our team in a full-time contract position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work Package Planning: Develop and prepare work instructions to guide mechanical and contract maintenance organizations in project execution and modification implementation.
  • Procurement and Materials Management: Select and approve purchase recommendations for materials needed for work package execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Field Walkdowns and Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits to identify and analyze maintenance, modification, and surveillance activities, providing input for refining and improving work package quality.
  • Collaboration and Interface: Work with Work Management, Supply, Operations, and Engineering teams to resolve work package issues and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Procedure Development: Define procedures, drawings, equipment, and materials required for planned work packages, ensuring compliance with applicable station procedures and codes.
  • Package Preparation and Facilitation: Prepare and submit necessary documentation, including welding/grinding permits, fire impairments, and regulatory documentation, to facilitate work package execution.
  • Work Instruction Verification: Ensure work instructions are adequate and comply with all applicable station procedures, including NSP's, NSWP's, ASME Code, and other relevant standards.
  • Maintenance Procedure Development and Review: Develop, revise, and review maintenance procedures to facilitate work package development, maintain compliance with codes and standards, and enhance work package quality.
  • Project Management and Coordination: Manage and coordinate with other system planners or contractors to develop detailed elements of overall package preparation, ensuring timely and effective project execution.
  • Work Control and Scheduling: Participate in work control/scheduling meetings, planning feedback/craft interface time, and detailed contract requisition reviews to ensure applicable station processes and changes are supported.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Nuclear Power Plant Work Management: Strong understanding of nuclear power plant work management and planning processes.
  • Safety Regulations: Familiarity with safety regulations associated with a power plant environment.
  • ALARA Requirements: Knowledge of ALARA requirements and their application in a nuclear power plant environment.
  • Nuclear Security Operations: Understanding of nuclear security operations, regulations, and requirements.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to manage time and prioritize work to improve plant and equipment reliability.
  • Commitment and Goal Setting: Ability to meet short- and long-term commitments to internal and external customers, set clear and challenging goals, and use metrics to follow up and measure.
  • Technical Report Writing and Trending: Skilled at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, and technical report writing and trending skills.

Compensation: $70.00 to $80.00 per hour. Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
