About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Engineer to join our team at Johns Manville. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of new products and technologies in the filtration and separation sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of new products and technologies in the filtration and separation sector, following a multistage development process.
  • Develop new product ideas and new products based on assigned projects, including the required documentation in the relevant authoritative documentation system.
  • Provide technical support to customers and respond to their inquiries.
  • Test and evaluate new feedstocks and materials.
  • Plan and execute production trial runs.
  • Evaluate and document test results using computer-aided tools.
  • Identify areas for improvement in product, process, and technology, and develop proposals and measures for continuous improvement.
  • Commission, monitor, and evaluate relevant tests.
  • Commission external customer-specific testing and certification.
  • Research, test, and document performance comparisons between JM and competitive products.
  • Support sales teams on technical issues and participate in joint customer visits.
  • Present work results at internal meetings and development meetings with clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technological developments and patent analysis.
  • Develop patents, trade secrets, and other intellectual property that provides a strategic business advantage.
  • Understand all test methods related to product performance requirements.
  • Maintain or write all necessary documentation, such as Technical Data Sheets, Finished Product Specifications, Research Reports, and Product and Raw Material Qualification Reports.
  • Participate in industry trade associations as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a relevant technical field, with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to choose alternatives and modify methods, designs, and general practices.
  • Knowledge of statistics and data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to make compelling cases for technical recommendations to a business.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical thinking.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Moderate travel required, 25-35% both domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment, which may involve exposure to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust, mist, gas, and fumes.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
