POSITION SUMMARY:
The Statewide Billing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing billing and operational activities within behavioral health initiatives across various locations. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Program Operations to develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with billing practices, contractual obligations, licensing, and accreditation standards, ultimately enhancing revenue generation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the billing department effectively.
- Establish clear roles and responsibilities within the billing team.
- Document and uphold best practices in billing to ensure adherence to contracts and regulations.
- Analyze data and workflows to drive continuous improvements in efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to enhance revenue and performance through data analysis and process optimization.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing training to staff on proper billing methodologies.
- Keep billing personnel informed about updates in billing, insurance, EHR, and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with finance and billing teams to prepare and reconcile financial reports.
- Maintain accurate and efficient recordkeeping practices.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in billing and collections to clients.
- Support Operations and Program Directors in non-clinical tasks to ensure compliance with quality improvement, legal, and accreditation standards.
- Ensure all operational records are maintained in accordance with legal and accreditation requirements.
- Work with directors to ensure the electronic health record system meets necessary standards.
- Develop systems and policies to enhance operational efficiency and compliance in administrative support and billing functions.
- Monitor funding contracts for compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the hiring and supervision of administrative and billing staff.
- Evaluate staff performance annually.
- Uphold confidentiality for staff and clients in line with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in professional development related to anti-racism and cultural competency.
- Participate in ongoing training and education.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience in behavioral health program administration, medical billing, and credentialing.
- 2+ years of management experience with responsibilities in hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Specialized training in management or administration.
- Experience working with children, youth, and family programs.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Completion of required health assessments and certifications.
- Successful background checks as required by the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a non-profit organization focused on child and youth services.
