General Overview:

The Marine Operations Supervisor is accountable for delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining consistent inventory levels within the marine department. This role may involve creating special orders for customers.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:
  • Represent the store positively.
  • Proactively assist customers in resolving issues.
  • Greet customers upon entry and thank them upon departure.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while interacting with customers and associates.
  • Ensure all calls and inquiries are handled promptly and courteously.
  • Address customer complaints effectively, keeping the store's best interests in mind.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of marine products and store layout.

Store Operations:
  • Foster a positive, professional, and safe work environment for all team members.
  • Oversee the general operations of the store.
  • Manage ordering and maintaining optimal marine product inventory levels to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with practices and policies to manage inventory shrinkage.
  • Supervise the receiving, stocking, and organization of marine merchandise.
  • Maintain back stock levels effectively.
  • Assist in the upkeep of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise areas.
  • Ensure timely completion of weekly price changes and monthly inventory counts.
  • Maintain current signage in the department.
  • Provide a clean and organized sales floor, including promotional displays.
  • Ensure proper handling of special orders and rain-checks.
  • Prepare promotional signage and products for customer access.

Support Operations:
  • Participate in marine trade shows and seminars as guided by the company.
  • Ensure effective Loss Prevention, Safety, and Internal Audits.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Leadership:
  • Engage with the community through civic organizations and community-minded initiatives.
  • Encourage associates to innovate in merchandising, expense control, and sales enhancement.
  • Lead by example, being approachable to all associates and customers.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED equivalent required; degree preferred. Completion of NHRA Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing is recommended.


Experience:

Previous retail experience is essential, preferably in the marine industry.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as necessary.
