Position Summary

The Retail Sales Specialist and Outdoor Equipment Technician is tasked with providing outstanding customer service while maintaining optimal inventory levels across all departments, particularly focusing on the outdoor power-tool section.

As needed, this role requires servicing and repairing all Stihl products in accordance with vendor warranty guidelines and using factory parts efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Customer Engagement:
    • Act as a positive representative of the store.
    • Proactively assist customers in resolving issues.
    • Greet customers warmly and thank them upon their departure.
    • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor with customers and colleagues.
    • Respond promptly and courteously to all inquiries.
    • Address customer complaints effectively, prioritizing the store's interests.
    • Possess thorough product knowledge and familiarity with store layout.
    • Communicate service and repair timelines clearly to customers.
    • Execute the Stihl repair process, including warranty processing and claim filing.
  • Store Operations:
    • Foster a professional and safe work environment for all staff.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the outdoor power department.
    • Manage product inventory levels to align with corporate profitability objectives.
    • Ensure compliance with policies to minimize inventory shrinkage.
    • Direct maintenance and repairs to safeguard physical assets.
    • Oversee the receiving and stocking of merchandise.
    • Maintain back stock levels efficiently.
    • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the sales floor and stock areas.
    • Assist with overall store maintenance.
    • Ensure safe and efficient forklift operations.
    • Complete weekly price adjustments and monthly inventory counts.
    • Maintain current signage throughout the store.
    • Ensure the sales floor is well-organized and visually appealing.
    • Manage special orders and rain-checks appropriately.
    • Prepare promotional signage and products for customer visibility.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED required; degree preferred. Training in small engine mechanics is advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous retail experience is essential.
  • Experience with Stihl gas products is beneficial (bronze or silver training).
  • Proficiency in small engine repair, including chainsaws, trimmers, and lawn equipment.
  • Willingness to complete Stihl certification training is required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb as necessary.
