Job Overview

The Electrical and Controls Technician is responsible for providing expert maintenance leadership in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within a manufacturing environment. This role is integral to the operational efficiency of the plant and requires a commitment to safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations during maintenance and operational activities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct maintenance, installation, modification, and calibration of equipment in operational areas, employing best safety practices.
  • System Support: Assist in system start-up and operational checks, including configuration, wiring, calibration, and power testing.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide hardware and software support to engineers and operational teams.
  • Leadership: Contribute significantly to major technology initiatives, working independently or as part of a team.
  • Troubleshooting: Utilize technical documentation such as manuals, schematics, and P&IDs to diagnose and repair complex electrical and control systems.
  • Installation Projects: Implement installations of buildings and equipment to enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Process Development: Develop processes and procedures that are essential for production line operations and product enhancements.
  • Advanced Maintenance: Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Follow established procedures and diagrams to execute maintenance tasks.
  • Corrective Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair various process equipment and control elements, including electronic and pneumatic systems.
  • Engineering Support: Assist in the modification and installation of new and existing instrumentation and control systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in production or operational roles, with at least 1 year in batch, continuous, or discrete manufacturing.
  • Shift Availability: Must be able to work night shifts.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with AB PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
