Position Overview

The Manufacturing Process Engineer role focuses on the development, enhancement, and implementation of efficient, cost-effective, and compliant production processes in alignment with product specifications and quality benchmarks. This position is responsible for innovating, developing, and executing mechanized processes aimed at minimizing variation, boosting capabilities, and ensuring all processes are easily trainable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project teams to establish the processes necessary for the production of components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods, facilitating the transition of products to a market-ready state.
  • Serves as the intermediary between development and operational teams.
  • Champions process consistency to guarantee that production methods can reliably yield products that satisfy design specifications.
  • Formulates and delivers comprehensive plans essential for the successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Creates project timelines, coordinates workforce, facilities, and equipment for designated initiatives.
  • Aids in enhancing production control systems, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, quality assurance, and training programs.
  • Develops and maintains detailed layouts of production facilities and equipment.
  • Oversees the manufacturing introduction of new or modified products, including goal-setting, team training, and performance evaluation.
  • Designs, develops, tests, and sources various tools, machinery, and equipment for proposed manufacturing techniques while conducting return on investment analyses.
  • Conducts product and process evaluations based on production and quality metrics.
  • Drafts engineering change orders to modify manufacturing documentation, drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Provides support to finance, accounting, human resources, quality assurance, regulatory, and clinical departments as needed to ensure adherence to requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered).
  • 1-2 years of experience in the medical device sector.
  • Familiarity with software such as SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, gather, and assess information, develop solutions, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to support projects and client needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination is essential.
  • Ability to distinguish between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
  • Compliance with safety protocols, including wearing gowns, gloves, and ear protection when applicable.
