The Maintenance Mechanic - Locksmith is tasked with the installation, repair, and upkeep of various locking mechanisms and security systems. This position requires proficiency in both mechanical and electronic locks, keys, and access control systems to ensure the safety and operational efficiency of commercial and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lock Installation and Maintenance: Execute the installation, repair, and replacement of locks on doors, windows, safes, cabinets, and other structures. This encompasses mechanical locks, electronic locks, keyless entry systems, and combination locks.

Key Cutting and Duplication: Utilize specialized key cutting machinery to accurately cut or duplicate keys. This process involves assessing key types, patterns, and compatibility with various lock models.

Lock Rekeying and Master Key Systems: Modify locks by changing internal components to make existing keys ineffective. Develop and implement master key systems for properties that require multiple access levels.

Emergency Lockout Services: Provide assistance during lockout situations, responding to emergencies where individuals are locked out of their residences, vehicles, or businesses. Employ troubleshooting techniques and tools to gain entry without causing damage.

Key Management and Inventory Control: Maintain a systematic inventory of keys, locks, and related equipment. Document key cutting, duplication, and distribution activities accurately.

Customer Interaction: Engage professionally with clients, offering assistance, clarifying lock and security options, and providing insights on maintenance and security best practices.

Compliance and Ethical Standards: Follow applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines regarding locksmith services, ensuring confidentiality and employing non-destructive entry methods.

Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about advancements in the locksmithing field, security technologies, and best practices through ongoing education and professional development.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in locksmithing or a related field is preferred.

- Demonstrated experience as a Locksmith, ideally in residential, commercial, or institutional environments.

- Comprehensive understanding of various lock types, key systems, hardware, and security solutions.

- Proficient in lock installation, repair, and maintenance methods.

- Ability to accurately cut and duplicate keys using specialized equipment.

- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Effective communication and customer service abilities.

- Solid grasp of locksmithing ethics, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
