ROLE SUMMARY

The Clinical Education Specialist is tasked with overseeing the training and professional growth of the clinical operations team at Navian. This position also aims to develop and share best practices across all clinical programs within the organization to enhance patient care and fortify the clinician-patient relationship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes adult learning principles to promote the development of team members.
  • Works collaboratively with various departments to conduct needs assessments that inform the design, development, and delivery of educational initiatives.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of educational programs.
  • Acts as a resource for inquiries related to current clinical practices.
  • Trains new or transitioning clinical staff and professional volunteers through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation (competency), and integration into practice.
  • Creates, maintains, and regularly updates written and e-learning materials for staff, volunteers, professional partners, and patients and families as required.
  • Facilitates processes to ensure final competency reviews are conducted by managers or designated team members.
  • Provides mentorship support in scheduled reflective meetings for all clinical staff, with a particular focus on new hires.
  • Adheres to all regulatory training requirements, including CE Broker curriculum tables, Medicare CoPs training, AHCA training regulations, OSHA training, and DOEA (Alzheimer's).
  • Maintains clinical expertise by participating in new classes or completing required competencies.
  • Stays informed about compliance and Joint Commission regulations.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of EMR systems.
  • Assists in the formulation of implementation plans in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Hawaii nursing license in good standing; MSN preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in home health care or hospice preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a clinical preceptor, mentor, or instructor.
  • Expertise in home health, case management, hospice/palliative care, and pain and symptom management preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills and EMR documentation, with a solid understanding of critical thinking and care planning processes.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines, policies, procedures, and applicable State and Federal regulations as well as Joint Commission standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and small group facilitation skills.
  • Strong communication, writing, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
