Job Summary

The Clinical Education Specialist is a key member of our team at Navian Hawaii, responsible for developing and delivering training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our clinical and non-clinical staff. This role plays a critical part in improving patient care and strengthening the clinician-patient relationship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and opportunities across clinical and non-clinical departments
  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs using various methods, including in-person, virtual, and e-learning platforms
  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, preparing materials, and managing participant enrollment
  • Employ principles of adult learning to foster the development of colleagues
  • Collaborate with other departments to perform needs assessments and support the design, development, and delivery of educational activities
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities
  • Serve as a resource for questions and topics related to current clinical practice
  • Develop, maintain, and update written and e-learning resources for staff, volunteers, professional partners, and patients and families
  • Facilitate processes to ensure final competency review is completed by a manager or designated team member
  • Provide mentorship support in regularly scheduled reflective meetings for all clinical staff, with a focus on clinical new hire team members
  • Consistently meet all regulatory requirements for training, including CE Broker curriculum tables, Medicare CoPs training requirements, AHCA training regulations, OSHA training requirements, and DOEA (Alzheimer's)
  • Maintain clinical expertise by attending new classes or completing required competencies
  • Maintain knowledge of all compliance and Joint Commission regulations
  • Maintain expert knowledge of EMR
  • Assist in the development of implementation plans, working with program leadership
Requirements
  • A current Hawaii license, in good standing, as a registered nurse
  • BSN required, Master's in Education preferred
  • At least two years of discipline-specific experience in home health care/hospice preferred
  • At least two years' experience as a clinical preceptor, mentor, or instructor
  • Expertise in home health, case management, hospice/palliative care, pain, and symptom management preferred
  • Computer expertise and EMR documentation expertise, including an understanding of critical thinking and care planning processes
  • Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures, and pertinent State and Federal Rules and Regulations and Joint Commission standards
  • Strong interpersonal and small group facilitation skills
  • Strong communication, writing, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and use of a reliable, registered, and insured automobile
