Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Driver Training Program Coordinator to join our team at Roberts Hawaii. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for providing safe, prompt, and efficient transportation to our customers while promoting the Spirit of Aloha.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary documents to meet DOT regulations, ensuring eligibility to drive.
  • Perform duties of a Driver with professionalism and courtesy, greeting customers with a warm Aloha and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Present a neat and clean appearance at all times.
  • Deal with people in a non-discriminatory manner and maintain control of self and passengers in all situations, including emergencies.
  • Provide narrations and announcements in a clear and friendly manner as instructed.
  • Perform daily tasks, including pre-trip inspections, fueling, and washing company equipment as needed.
  • Notify Dispatch Operations of any changes in trip route or schedule and receive prior authorization for planned deviations.
  • Clean and properly maintain uniform and required IDs at all times during shift.
  • Assist passengers needing special assistance and secure wheelchairs.
  • Pick-up and drop-off passengers in an orderly and efficient manner.
  • Label and load luggage according to destination as needed.
  • Report counts, changes, and destination to Dispatcher.
  • Perform tour and/or transportation to and from destinations.
  • Keep accurate passenger counts.
  • Conduct post-trip inspections, refuel vehicles, and clean exterior and interior of vehicles.
  • Fill out a Vehicle Accident Report and follow company policies in the event of an accident.
  • Complete trip sheets for each assigned movement and turn in paperwork.
Working Conditions/Job Environment

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and sit for sustained periods of time. Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods of time. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound. The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating and repairing machines/equipment. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity of moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to heat. Subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, and gases.

Supervision

This position does not supervise other employees. However, the incumbent may make work assignments and/or check the work of others but without supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Skills
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Knowledge of local streets and hotel locations.
  • Able to read, speak, and understand English.
  • Ensure that all documentation as required by DOT are current and valid.
  • Hawaii Driver History Record.
  • PUC (Physical Examination, Medical Clearance Card).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • The State DOT's (Dept. of Transportation) Motor Vehicle Safety Office when they conduct roadside inspections, require the driver to have a good enough command of English to communicate with examiners.
  • Clearly announcing stops (hotels, condos, etc.) and points of interest.
  • Ability to perform simple math functions - counting, adding, subtracting.
  • Position requires working under deadlines and pressure.
  • Requires expertise in dealing with people and situations involving complex issues.
  • Entails compliance with the company Substance Abuse Policy and Department of Transportation Controlled Substances and Alcohol Use and Testing regulations.
