Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate patient care to meet the specific needs of patients and their families.
  • Oversee the administration of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing methodologies.
  • Manage discharge planning, resource allocation, and scheduling of essential services for patients.
  • Evaluate care delivery, advocate for patients, and engage in care planning and outcome assessment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to address individual patient requirements.

Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may be considered if they are currently enrolled in a BSN program with completion anticipated within two years of hire or transfer to an RN role. Submission of diploma or transcripts for the highest degree attained is mandatory.

Experience and Training:
A minimum of one year of recent experience in an acute care environment is essential, with two years preferred. Completion of an accredited Critical Care Core Curriculum program is advantageous, along with advanced experience in Medical/Surgical and telemetry settings. Successful completion of the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 21 days of employment is required. Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with computerized documentation systems is essential.

Licenses and Certifications:
Required:

  • Active Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 30 days of hire/transfer.
Preferred:
Possession of a current Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN), Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN), or related certification.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in monitoring and supporting Cardiac, Neurologic, and Pulmonary patients, including those on ventilators.
  • Expertise in managing Acute Stroke patients, including post-procedure care and tPA/Thrombolytics administration.
  • Knowledge of post-operative care for stable Neurosurgical patients.
  • Ability to manage Thoracic patients, including chest tube care.
  • Competency in IV admixture is crucial.
