The University of Georgia is seeking a dedicated Editorial Content Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications team. This role is essential in crafting, refining, and enhancing narratives that showcase the university's achievements and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and edit compelling content for various platforms, including print, digital, and social media.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the university to strategize and prioritize content that highlights institutional successes.
- Ensure all written materials adhere to established style guidelines and branding standards.
- Provide editorial support and guidance to fellow writers and content creators.
- Manage segments of the editorial calendar, coordinating submissions and inquiries as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Experience in journalism, editing, or a related area is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should possess 2-3 years of professional experience in writing or editing, particularly within an academic context. Strong writing and editing skills, along with familiarity in research and feature writing, are essential.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to discern newsworthy content, especially in educational settings.
- Proficient in AP style and adept at crafting effective news releases.
- Experience with project management tools to oversee and evaluate content initiatives.
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience in magazine and newsletter publishing is advantageous.

This position is based in a standard office environment, with occasional requirements for evening and weekend work.
