Senior Strategic Arms Control Consultant

SAIC is in search of a Senior Strategic Arms Control Consultant to support critical initiatives from the Pentagon.

This role entails acting as the principal technical advisor and analyst for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, focusing on the Strategic, Space, and Intelligence Portfolio Management. The consultant will oversee and facilitate the Department of Defense (DoD) treaty implementation and compliance efforts for strategic arms control agreements. Key responsibilities include delivering technical and analytical support on a range of issues to ensure that the DoD adheres to strategic arms control agreements while mitigating impacts on operational plans and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, coordinating, executing, and interpreting DoD guidance related to strategic arms control
  • Act as the primary contractor for DoD treaty working groups and compliance review teams
  • Collaborate with interagency partners and the Intelligence Community to align U.S. Government arms control policies
  • Prepare comprehensive responses to inquiries regarding arms control implementation and compliance from various entities
  • Compose correspondence, issue papers, and presentations addressing strategic arms control matters

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in arms control compliance and implementation within the DoD
  • Experience in addressing arms control issues within OSD, Service, or Major Command headquarters
  • Ability to assess the effects of arms control agreements on DoD strategic weapon systems and operations
  • Technical proficiency in evaluating treaty obligations and compliance measures
  • Research and analytical expertise on arms control agreements
  • Strong problem-solving skills within the DoD and interagency policy frameworks

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with U.S. strategic weapon systems and nuclear weapons infrastructure
  • Understanding of the requirements, operations, plans, policies, and procedures for strategic nuclear weapons systems
  • Capability to deliver technical presentations to senior leadership
  • Experience in identifying program elements subject to arms control treaty provisions
  • Proficiency in drafting executive-level correspondence

Education:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred

Clearance:

  • Top Secret clearance is necessary

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000
