Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced technologist to join our Software Engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping our strategy around Azure cloud adoption, developing customer-centric solutions, and enhancing operational efficiency. As a Software Architect, you will serve as a technical mentor across various teams, ensuring the creation of modern, scalable, and dependable solutions.

Software Architects at Great Gray are Lean-Agile leaders who collaborate with engineers, fellow architects, product management, and executive leadership to drive architectural consistency in alignment with our mission. They focus on immediate tactical challenges while also evaluating long-term architectural strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess technology opportunities through proof-of-concept initiatives to inform impactful business decisions regarding our solutions and security.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, product managers, and the architectural community to identify patterns and platform enablers.
  • Design architectures that align with our business initiatives and influence the evolution of our platform roadmaps.
  • Facilitate alignment on long-term organizational plans and support architectural transitions.
  • Engage with the internal development community to guide and influence the architectural direction of our cloud technology platform.
  • Communicate our infrastructure strategy and the benefits of technology and platform capabilities to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Participate in architecture design reviews and contribute to the overall architectural framework.
  • Foster a culture of feedback, trust, and collaboration within our internal community.
  • Document data processes, workflows, and system configurations to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain system integrity.
  • Lead technical workshops and training sessions to enhance the cloud competency of internal teams, promoting continuous learning and innovation.
  • Stay informed about emerging cloud technologies and trends, evaluating their relevance to our business needs and exploring new solutions to enhance our financial services offerings.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Azure services, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in architecting or operating Azure-based solutions.
  • Proficient in writing high-quality code in programming languages such as C# or Angular to address real-world engineering challenges.
  • Strong sense of urgency and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of software engineering experience in production environments, particularly with distributed applications.
  • At least 2 years of experience in architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized settings.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native design principles and containerization technologies.
  • Azure certifications are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code management.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira.
  • Experience in leading teams through influence.
  • Proficient in web-based collaboration and communication tools.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills in ambiguous situations.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
