Job Title: Nephrologist

Department: Department of Veteran Affairs

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Nephrologist to join our team at the Department of Veteran Affairs. As a Nephrologist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with kidney-related medical problems. You will study normal kidney function, kidney problems, and the treatment of kidney problems and renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation).

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose kidney-related medical problems
  • Study normal kidney function, kidney problems, and the treatment of kidney problems and renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation)
  • Diagnose and treat disorders related to the kidneys
  • Focus on non-surgical treatment and management of renal disorders
  • Manage patients with a wide range of renal disorders, including glomerulonephritis, renal cancer, hydronephrosis, etc.
  • Perform pre-transplant assessments in some patients or assist in referral for consideration of transplant surgery

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to clearly discuss conditions and treatments with patients in a way that they fully understand
  • Knowledgeable: Possess analytical skills, have attention to detail, and an extensive understanding of medicine
  • Self-Motivation and Compassion: Be self-motivated and have a genuine desire to help people, treating patients and their families with compassion and understanding
Working Conditions:

Attend Morning Report on a daily basis from Nephrologist inpatient/outpatient consultations and daily inpatient rounding. Outpatient nephrology clinics. Committee Appointments- Will participate in meetings as assigned. Coordinate the patient care by effective communication with PCP, Inpatient, ED and outside services. Provide medical expert opinions for Tort Claims as requested. Peer review committee as needed. Other duties as assigned by Chief of Medicine.
