About This Position

As the Global Head of Regulatory Strategy, you will lead the formulation and implementation of an innovative worldwide regulatory framework for food and biopesticide/biostimulant products. Your leadership will be crucial in driving business expansion by securing market access while maintaining compliance and managing risks effectively. Utilizing your vast experience, you will enhance regulatory methodologies, promote interdepartmental collaboration, and provide strategic direction to navigate intricate regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee a thorough, proactive, and competitive global regulatory strategy for food and biopesticide/biostimulant products that unlocks business potential and accelerates outcomes while balancing risk.
  • Refine regulatory strategies and take responsibility for regulatory risk assessment and mitigation as new information emerges.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across technical, commercial, and operational teams, including at executive levels, to ensure alignment and support for the strategy.
  • Act as the Regulatory Affairs representative on cross-functional project teams, resolving complex project challenges by providing regulatory insights and interpreting regulations to identify optimal product development and compliance strategies.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their capabilities and drive results.
  • Oversee the team's budget, optimizing the use of internal and external resources.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and trade associations, to foster relationships and represent the company effectively.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement submission planning timelines and metrics, addressing any timeline challenges with management.
  • Draft, collaborate on, and review regulatory submissions and related documentation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes, integrating these insights into proactive strategies to mitigate risks and seize opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Food Science) is required.
  • An advanced degree in a STEM field or a Juris Doctor in Food Law or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a heavily regulated sector, ideally within the food, food additives/flavorings, or agricultural inputs industries, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Experience in a regulatory agency is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing complex global product regulatory strategies and leading high-performing teams across various product categories and regulatory frameworks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global food and biopesticide/biostimulant regulations and agencies, with a keen awareness of trends influencing the regulatory landscape.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities, combined with business acumen.
  • Proven ability to manage risk effectively.
  • Experience in developing and leading high-performance teams.
  • A robust network of global regulatory contacts to support evolving business needs.
  • Experience in leading multi-stakeholder advocacy initiatives to advance regulatory objectives.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong interpersonal skills, capable of uniting internal and external partners to achieve common goals.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
