Role Overview:
This position is crucial for leading and managing TBD's risk and compliance initiatives. You will be responsible for the strategy, development, and execution of our BSA Compliance program in the United States. This includes the formulation of customer onboarding processes, sanctions screening, fraud risk strategies, and ongoing monitoring mechanisms for TBD's Participating Financial Institution (PFI).

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Design and Implementation:** Develop a tailored Customer Onboarding, Sanctions, AML, and Fraud Program that aligns with TBD's products, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while enhancing efficiency and user experience.
2. **Collaboration:** Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Partnerships, and Engineering, to gain insights into TBD's offerings such as the tbDEX decentralized messaging protocol and bitcoin custody services.
3. **Risk Strategy Development:** Collaborate with Block's FinCrimes experts to establish a comprehensive risk strategy encompassing AML, financial crimes, and operational risks to support future product development.
4. **Vendor Engagement:** Assess and evaluate third-party solutions to enhance compliance capabilities, managing these relationships in conjunction with our Partnerships team.
5. **Policy Documentation:** Maintain and document all relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal, legal, and regulatory standards.
6. **Compliance Culture:** Foster a strong compliance culture by exemplifying integrity and promoting Block's mission of Economic Empowerment.
7. **Team Development:** Recruit and build a team of compliance analysts and investigators, focusing on the necessary skills to strengthen operational capabilities.
8. **Operational Capacity Management:** Develop a model to inform staffing needs, outsourcing, or automation to ensure effective compliance operations.

Qualifications:
- Over 12 years of experience in Compliance and AML roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in compliance leadership within regulated financial technology or digital currency sectors.
- Expertise in designing and scaling customer onboarding and AML Risk programs at regulated financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of financial technology, blockchain, and cryptocurrency regulations.
- Exceptional communication skills with a collaborative management style.
