Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The role involves the implementation of essential tools, methodologies, and Cloud environments aimed at automating the build, testing, deployment, and operational infrastructure utilizing NoSQL, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, and Python. The engineer will construct and oversee infrastructure compatible with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Azure, and OpenStack. This position requires the creation of configuration, deployment, and release management strategies utilizing Atlassian and JIRA. Additionally, the role includes provisioning configuration management and containerization solutions through Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, and Mesos. The engineer will develop and uphold frameworks, code quality assessments, processes, tools, and execute using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) within Kubernetes container environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, advocate, and support micro-services.
  • Ensure deployment reliability and frequency while minimizing friction.
  • Execute deployment processes including packaging and releasing, as well as installation execution.
  • Provide support for customer infrastructure in Cloud deployments.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot a highly available platform.
  • Conduct research, evaluation, proof of concept, installation, configuration, and training for DevOps tools.
  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software.
  • Establish operational specifications and analyze software requirements.
  • Offer technology solutions for daily challenges and provide technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advise senior management on technical strategies.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting various divisional initiatives.
  • Develop innovative and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field, accompanied by five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or a closely related occupation) in designing, building, and deploying infrastructure and applications within Cloud providers such as AWS and Azure.

Alternatively, a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in the aforementioned fields, with three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or a closely related occupation) in the same domains.

Skills and Knowledge:

The candidate must possess:

  • Demonstrated expertise in automated provisioning using AWS CloudFormation, AWS OpsWorks, HashiCorp Terraform, Route 53, or AWS auto-scaling; automating system administration and application functions using Shell, Python, and Ruby; and managing websites and applications on the cloud.
  • Expertise in building, running, and deploying multi-tier web applications on a cloud computing platform (AWS, Azure, or IBM BlueMix) using IaaS or PaaS; and developing automations on IaaS or PaaS using IT automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Experience in implementing and migrating financial service applications using automated configuration management products (Urban Deploy, Puppet, Chef, Docker, or Mesos) across on-premises and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google); and implementing Cloud Infrastructure for financial service applications using EC2, S3, VPCs, CloudFront, Elastic Cache, Lambda, and on-demand instances.
  • Proficiency in developing Web and API applications using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or JavaScript; and deploying applications on private or public Cloud (OpenStack, Azure, or AWS), utilizing container and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, along with Docker, Jenkins, HashiCorp Vault, or Kubernetes-based container orchestration platforms.
