Job Overview

The Consultant will proactively identify potential technology issues and discover opportunities to enhance business operations through effective technology utilization. This position involves engagement with multiple active clients to deliver value while concurrently participating in business development initiatives. The role offers flexibility for remote work with occasional travel as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engage proactively with diverse clients, ensuring outstanding service delivery, and collaborate closely with stakeholders and executive leadership to facilitate successful technology implementations.
  2. Perform architectural evaluations to create designs and cost projections for both straightforward and intricate organizations, ensuring they are comprehensible to both executive and technical audiences.
  3. Work with stakeholders to gather business requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  4. Evaluate client environments and offer actionable insights to enhance operations, minimize expenses, bolster security, and generate business value.
  5. Develop and implement solutions and strategies tailored to client needs.
  6. Advance business development efforts by nurturing relationships with current clients and identifying prospects with new clients. Formulate solutions, draft statements of work, and prepare cost estimates for new initiatives.
  7. Guide and mentor a team of both senior and junior engineering consultants as the organization grows, fostering their performance and professional development.
  8. Deliver timely and expert advisory services to meet client requirements.
  9. Manage escalated IT tickets across various clients utilizing ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) methodologies, tools, and processes.
  10. Act as a point of escalation for incidents necessitating engineering expertise.
  11. Serve as project lead, developing work plans and solutions, and executing assigned tasks as outlined in statements of work or Managed Partner agreements. Ensure projects are completed within defined scope, timeline, budget, and quality standards. Create documentation, oversee project plans, and produce client-ready deliverables.

Required Qualifications
The following experience elements are critical for the Lead IT Engineering Consultant role:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of comprehensive IT and/or systems implementation experience.
  • Experience overseeing core technology components (e.g., networking, server infrastructure, storage systems, and backup systems), as well as cloud computing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards, such as NIST, HIPAA, GDPR, GxP, etc.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation initiatives and contemporary IT paradigms (e.g., microservices, DevOps).
  • Strong grasp of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Certifications such as Azure Fundamentals, M365, Microsoft Security, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or CCNA.
  • Proficient in managing the core infrastructure components of M365 and Azure (e.g., Users, Groups, Exchange, Azure Active Directory, licensing, etc.).
  • Experienced in managing cloud PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), particularly with Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience in deploying and configuring M365 components including Teams, Exchange, Intune, Defender, and Sentinel.
  • Experience in deploying and configuring Enterprise Applications (e.g., Zoom and Adobe) and their integrations (including SSO).
  • Experience in deploying and configuring Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems (e.g., Azure Entra ID) including conditional access rules.
  • Proven track record in designing, building, and supporting enterprise systems solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Experience with formal change management practices and procedures.
  • Experience in consulting – managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
  • Subject matter expertise in Identity Management, Device Management, Cloud computing, or similar technology domains.
  • Proficient in scripting with PowerShell, Python, or similar DevOps-focused technologies.
  • Experience in the healthcare and life sciences sector.
