Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our swim schools in Yorktown Heights, New Rochelle, or Yonkers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a large team of staff members, including swim instructors, lifeguards, and customer service representatives, to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Management: Direct and control the daily operations of the swim school to ensure compliance with Goldfish Swim School's standard operating procedures.
  • Staff Management: Manage and lead a team of staff members to ensure high productivity, excellent performance, and positive employee satisfaction.
  • Aquatics Department: Train and oversee the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to students.
  • Customer Service: Interact with deck supervisors on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and employee performance and training.
  • Sales and Marketing: Provide sales and marketing training to qualified sales staff.
  • Retail and Vending: Provide direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
  • Private Parties: Train and oversee private party staff to ensure that Goldfish Swim School's standard operating procedures are being maintained.
  • Scheduling and Reporting: Gain knowledge and experience of scheduling software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting, and administrative functions.
  • Pools Operations: Gain a high level of knowledge and experience in the Goldfish Swim School pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
  • Employee Activities: Initiate and oversee workplace employee activities to achieve improved employee satisfaction.
  • Emergency Action Plan: Direct and oversee the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures that pertain to the Goldfish Swim School facility.
  • Certifications and Professional Development: Maintain current certifications and stay up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
  • Payroll and Scheduling: Schedules staff and manages payroll.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: College degree required. Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or equivalent is desired.
  • Certifications: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is ideal and will be required for the position.
  • Problem-Solving and Creative Thinking: Problem solver and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and sales tracking.
  • Payroll and Scheduling Systems: Experience with payroll systems and employee scheduling software.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive Attitude and Passion: Positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.
  • Availability: Some evenings until 8pm (~3/week) and one weekend day per week (5 hour shift, done by 2pm).
  • Background Examinations: Must pass background examinations (included with training).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Youth Sports Experience: Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or aquatics instructor/supervisor is preferred. Ability to work with children.
  • Aquatics Background: Strong aquatics background, including instruction and lifeguard experience is desired.
  • Team Management: Experience hiring, managing, and training teams.
  • Business Experience: Business experience in membership sales is ideal.
  • Payroll and Scheduling Systems: Experience with payroll systems and employee scheduling software.
  • Maintenance and Sanitation: Experience with maintenance of pool equipment and pool sanitation systems.
  • Collaboration and Adaptability: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive Attitude and Passion: Positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.
