Position Overview

This role involves the coordination of research activities for designated oncology trials.

The responsibilities encompass a thorough understanding of research protocols, evaluating patient charts, identifying potential study candidates, executing study procedures such as blood collection, and preparing samples for analysis. Additional tasks include interpreting laboratory results, gathering and inputting study data, and maintaining essential documentation.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Trial Evaluation and Execution: Familiarize yourself with study protocols, primary disease categories, and investigational drug details; Ensure communication and coordination with various departments involved in the research; Organize studies in accordance with sponsor specifications and institutional review board (IRB) guidelines. Adjust studies in response to amendments and extensions.

Reporting and Financial Management: Complete all necessary reports, including annual continuation reports mandated by the IRB; Prepare and submit investigational New Drug (IND) Safety Reports to the IRB.

Patient Management: Evaluate patients' overall health; Report all adverse events promptly to the sponsor and IRB; Inform the Principal Investigator of any patient condition changes; Assist Principal Investigators in managing adverse events and schedule follow-up procedures as needed.

Study Implementation: Organize patient appointments, laboratory tests, and procedures; Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, dispense investigational drugs according to protocol; Collect laboratory samples, monitor vital signs, perform ECGs when necessary, and assist with physical examinations; Adhere to Good Clinical Practices.

Subject Recruitment: Understand inclusion/exclusion criteria; Collaborate with Principal Investigators to develop recruitment strategies; Prepare advertisements for institutional approval; Serve as a liaison between referral sources and Principal Investigators; Screen patients for eligibility and ensure informed consent processes are followed.

Documentation and Data Management: Maintain all regulatory documents required by the FDA and sponsors; Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of necessary procedures/tests and study information; Complete source documents diligently; Collaborate with data coordinators to ensure timely completion of case report forms and data entry.

Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a valid Registered Nurse license in the state, with at least three years of clinical experience in a specialized field; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification, or an Associate's degree in Nursing with a minimum of six years of clinical experience in a specialized area; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various software/databases
Work Schedule and Compensation

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Occasional work outside standard hours may be required)

Pay Band: B13
Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range.
