Department Overview
The Medical College of Georgia is recognized as one of the largest medical schools in the nation, accommodating 260 students per class. The educational framework is supported by the main campus in Augusta and various regional clinical sites throughout the state.
MCG's extensive collaborations with healthcare providers and hospitals across Georgia provide approximately 350 locations for students to engage in diverse medical experiences.
Our faculty and researchers are dedicated to addressing critical health issues affecting children and adults, focusing on areas such as cardiovascular health, oncology, neuroscience, public health, and personalized medicine.
Role Summary
The Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Augusta University Medical Center is in search of a Research Associate to contribute to various research initiatives.
Current projects include the development and management of databases, multicenter observational studies, and the recruitment and enrollment of patients in randomized clinical trials, alongside several ongoing retrospective studies.
This role will involve close collaboration with Physician Principal Investigators to achieve project objectives and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Screening, recruiting, and securing consent from patients for research participation.
- Collecting samples from enrolled participants (training will be provided).
- Ensuring adherence to protocols and completion of regulatory obligations.
- Assisting in the preparation of manuscripts.
- Participating in monthly research meetings.
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Master's degree from an accredited institution in fields such as chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related sciences, along with research experience, particularly in clinical trials, is required.
Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of three years of research or clinical experience may be acceptable.
Skills and Competencies
Strong customer service, interpersonal, multitasking, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with various software and databases is expected.
The ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and make independent decisions is crucial.
Employment Conditions
This position is fully funded by grants.
Work hours are primarily during the day, Monday through Friday, with potential requirements for additional hours outside of standard business times.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range is $45,400 - $48,800, commensurate with qualifications. Full-time employees may be eligible for various benefits, including health and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, and holiday time.
Additionally, employees with over six months of service may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.
