Polar Service Centers is seeking a skilled and safety-minded individual to join their team as a Confined Space Entry Monitor. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the company's commitment to safety and excellence.

Job Summary

The Confined Space Entry Monitor will be responsible for ensuring the safety of workers entering confined spaces, monitoring the space for potential hazards, and maintaining communication with the entrants. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and safeguard the entrant(s) without engaging in other tasks that interrupt this primary duty
  • Provide undivided attention during confined space entry processes
  • Able to monitor two spaces accessible from the same platform
  • Act as the external fire watch for Hotwork during confined space entry
  • Remain outside the permit space during entry operations unless relieved by another authorized attendant
  • Understand and address existing and potential hazards, including modes of exposure and consequences
  • Maintain communication with the entrant(s) through verbal or signaled communication
  • Post and monitor the permit at the entry point, tracking workers entering and exiting the space
  • Ensure proper ventilation and validate pre-entry equipment checks by the entrant
  • Validate entrant's compliance with PPE requirements and perform non-entry rescue if needed
  • Summon emergency services when necessary, order evacuation under specific conditions, and prevent unauthorized entry
  • Inform authorized personnel of any unauthorized entry attempts to the permit space
  • Assist with safety-related tasks and receive foundational technician training as desired

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Experience is a plus but not mandatory
  • Skills in Confined Space Attendant, Fire Watch, Bottle Watch, or Rope Rescue Technician are beneficial
