Job Summary:

Polar Service Centers is seeking a highly skilled and safety-oriented individual to fill the role of Confined Space Entry Monitor. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe execution of confined space entries and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and protect entrants during confined space entries, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Perform fire watch duties, including external fire watch for hotwork operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of confined space entries, including permit postings and entrant documentation.
  • Verify that entrants are wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and that ventilation systems are functioning properly.
  • Perform non-entry rescue operations using rescue self-retracting lifelines (RSRL) or mechanical rescue devices.
  • Summon rescue services during emergencies and order evacuations as necessary.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to permit spaces and inform entrants and supervisors of any unauthorized individuals.
  • Perform shop helper and other safety duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience in confined space entry, fire watch, or related fields is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and take instructions from management and coworkers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Safety-oriented with the ability to identify and eliminate hazards and unsafe work practices.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be performed in shop areas, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.
  • Ambient temperatures, typical shop lighting, and mechanical equipment are present throughout the shop.
  • Work may be performed in covered or outside environments.
