Claims Specialist

OVERVIEW:

In the role of Claims Specialist at Marsh McLennan Agency, you will act as a claims consultant, offering guidance and support for our clients during the entirety of a loss event and the subsequent claims process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the submission of claims or provide expert advice on the claims submission process.
  • Analyze coverage options and resolve any claims-related issues.
  • Ensure that commitments made by carriers are fulfilled.
  • Organize and take part in scheduled reviews of claims.
  • Advocate for clients when interacting with adjusters and their legal representatives.
  • Work towards resolving coverage disputes whenever feasible.
  • Evaluate and strategize to achieve optimal outcomes for claims.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the client's claims program and address complex claims situations.
  • Formulate strategic action plans aimed at achieving desired results.
  • Provide insights regarding potential significant settlements.
  • Recommend appropriate vendor partners, including claims third-party administrators, nurse triage services, and others.
  • Assess the action plans proposed by adjusters and facilitate resolutions of claims.
  • Review insurance company claim reserves and advocate for reductions when applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • Adjuster's license is preferred.
  • Experience with large and complex construction claims is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices is essential.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to serve clients effectively, negotiate, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical skills are required to make informed decisions and resolve issues related to claims management.
