Purchasing Agent Job Description

At Century Communities, we're seeking a skilled Purchasing Agent to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of our supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating and setting up new communities to bid in the Vendor Database.
  • Send out bid invitations to interested vendors and manage the bidding process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and manage specifications, scopes of work, and plans.
  • Research and respond to bidders' questions via email and phone calls.
  • Pull bids from our bid program, NewStar, and merge them into Excel for analysis.
  • Compile the lowest bids and create a budget template in Excel.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of contracts and budgets.
  • Provide ongoing support for Forward Planning, Centralized Purchasing Administration, and Subcontractors.
  • Coordinate plan changes from production to consultants on new and active communities.
  • Communicate outstanding issues where Purchasing and Forward Planning interface.
Requirements:
  • Strong negotiating and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Residential construction knowledge or experience preferred.
