About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Disaster Preparedness and Community Outreach Coordinator. As a key member of our California Emergency Response Corps (CERC) team, you will play a critical role in helping Californians become better prepared for natural disasters and addressing food insecurities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement disaster preparedness education programs for vulnerable communities
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local community-based organizations and internal programs
  • Conduct surveys and other measurable activities to assess community needs and track progress
  • Deploy to disasters and provide assistance to organizations managing disaster response
  • Participate in recurring performance check-ins with CERC staff and provide regular updates on progress
Requirements
  • 18 years or older
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Live locally to nonprofit partner for day-to-day service
  • Two years professional or volunteer experience (in related fields), or Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to potentially serve evenings and weekends when needed
  • Ability to deploy on short notice anywhere in California for disaster response

  • Ability to provide a consistent, professional, positive adult relationship with the public and host nonprofit site(s)
  • Confident oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to serve independently and make decisions
  • Willingness and ability to take initiative
  • Experience working in group and team settings
