Position Overview:
The Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images of specific anatomical regions, adhering to established scanning protocols while ensuring patient care is tailored to their age and needs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates efficient patient flow for CT examinations by prioritizing based on urgency and addressing any barriers to timely service with the Lead CT Technologist or Manager.
  • Accurately verifies patient identity using two identifiers, reviews imaging orders for completeness, and assesses any potential risks prior to procedures.
  • Communicates the imaging process to patients with empathy and professionalism.
  • Executes IV cannulation as directed by a Licensed Independent Practitioner, maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
  • Utilizes iStat testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensures patient comfort and dignity during imaging procedures, selecting appropriate imaging protocols and adjusting exposure settings for optimal results.
  • Operates power injectors for contrast media administration under the supervision of a physician, in compliance with departmental policies.
  • Practices radiation safety and demonstrates proficiency in using post-processing workstations, ensuring accurate exam critiques and labeling.
  • Responsible for timely verification of exams within the hospital's Radiology Information System (RIS) and archiving completed studies to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Adheres to infection control protocols, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and examination rooms, and ensuring proper stocking of supplies.
  • Prepares for upcoming exams by scheduling appropriately and flagging any contraindications.
  • Coordinates comprehensive care for CT patients, including transportation and communication with nursing staff, while upholding patient confidentiality and comfort.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the Lead CT Technologist or Manager and submits necessary maintenance requests.
  • Exemplifies the core values of Nuvance Health through consistent attendance and adherence to documentation protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in CT.
  • Valid New York State Radiological License with Injection.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Work Environment:
This position operates on a Per Diem basis, with varied shifts as needed, including potential holiday work. The role requires flexibility and a commitment to patient-centered care.
