Join Our Team as a Mobilization Manager

DC Action is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mobilization Manager to lead our Under 3 DC campaign. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for mobilizing early childhood educators to drive transformative social change in the District of Columbia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outreach, mobilization, and community engagement, with a proven track record of building and sustaining relationships with community-based organizations, early education programs, and policy advocacy groups. You will work closely with our Organizing Director to develop and implement a comprehensive mobilization strategy that engages early educators, families, and community allies in the Under 3 DC campaign.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with early childhood educators, center and home-based, through active outreach, recruitment, and mobilization.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly Early Educator's Committee meetings to engage and empower early educators in the Under 3 DC campaign.
  • Participate in the Under 3 DC Core Team to execute coalition strategy, plan campaign tactics, events, and meetings, and work with community allies and organizations.
  • Support and train early educators to take on progressive leadership roles in the coalition, including developing early educator leaders and connecting them with community partners.
  • Work with campaign leadership to identify and develop leaders for earned media and public advocacy, including meetings with lawmakers, testifying, and community meetings and public hearings.
  • Attend child care-related community and civic events, connect with provider associations, and meet with teachers and providers to engage them in the Under 3 DC campaign.
  • Expand the Under 3 DC base of teachers and early learning program leaders.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to create content for Under 3 DC's social media and web presence.
  • Represent Under 3 DC in other issues, community, and civic meetings when called upon.
  • Maintain and report mobilization data through Action Network, Google Docs, and related platforms.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience conducting local outreach or mobilization efforts in education, youth development, public health, or a related field.
  • A bachelor's degree or 8 years of work experience.
  • A clear commitment to economic, racial, and social justice for children, youth, and families, demonstrated through prior work, writing, and/or advocacy.
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of DC government and local issues relating to children and families is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a campaign environment, respond quickly and effectively to changing conditions, and bring others along with you.
  • A strong set of relationships in the District's community, ideally with community-based organizations, early education programs, and policy advocacy and grassroots organizing groups, along with the ability to cultivate new relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize multiple-level tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and verbal skills, as demonstrated by public presentations or written testimony.
  • A self-starting work style and strong self-motivation.
