Job Overview and Responsibilities

Under the direct oversight of the Program Assistant, the Training Coordinator I is tasked with the organization, development, coordination, and execution of training initiatives of moderate complexity, as well as overseeing a significant segment of the facility's intricate training agenda.

The Training Coordinator I leads training operations for the facility, ensuring that educational objectives are met through effective consultation, and directly facilitates training sessions and workshops within the training framework. Typical training initiatives encompass, but are not limited to: executive and managerial development, comprehensive supervisory training, personalized employee development strategies, professional and technical education, specialized training, and thorough orientation programs. Utilizes Equally Effective Communication in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Armstrong and Clark Remedial Plans to guarantee that communication with individuals with disabilities is as effective as with others.

Required Qualifications

Experience applicable to one of the following patterns may be combined on a proportional basis with experience applicable to the other pattern to meet the total experience requirements, provided that the combined qualifying experience totals at least 30 months. Education may not be used to reduce this 30-month limit. Either I One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Staff Services Analyst, Range C. (Individuals applying experience toward this pattern must have had an assignment in California state service planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating employee training programs in a variety of subjects.)

Or II

Experience: Three years of experience in planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating employee training programs covering a variety of subjects. (Experience in California state service applied toward this pattern must include one year of experience performing duties comparable in level of responsibility to those of a Staff Services Analyst, Range C.) and

Education: Equivalent to graduation from college. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)

(Promotional candidates who are within six months of satisfying the experience requirement for this class will be admitted to the examination, but they must fully meet the experience requirement before being eligible for appointment.)

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
