About Caliber Public Schools

Caliber's mission is to promote educational equity by transforming the experiences, expectations, and outcomes for students in historically underserved communities. Our strengths-based educational framework validates, affirms, respects, and supports students, families, and staff members to achieve their fullest potential. Graduates of Caliber will be academically prepared for college; possess emotional intelligence or 'EQ'; be critical thinkers, and have the skills and motivation to be agents of change in their communities and beyond.

Our four graduate pillars—Heart, Smart, Think, Act—guide our initiatives. Caliber incorporates computer science as a core academic subject from K-8th grade to directly address the inequitable representation of women and underrepresented minorities in the computer science field. We are a community-oriented organization that celebrates the diversity of the communities we serve. Our parents are engaged partners, actively participating through school events, restorative practices, and academic support.

As we expand, we seek educators and leaders eager to use their voices to contribute to building something innovative; to be part of a team dedicated to creating impactful educational experiences. Our first school, Beta Academy, opened in Richmond, CA, and ChangeMakers Academy in Vallejo, CA, has been operational since fall 2016. We aim to establish additional schools in the coming years, growing to nearly 4,000 seats from TK-12 in the Bay Area.
