Oncology Clinical Research Nurse I

Position Overview:
The Clinical Trial Nurse I (CTN-I) is an entry-level role that operates under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and clinical trials management. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and quality of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, approvals, and organizational policies. The CTN-I is responsible for safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of research participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Support adherence to the Principles of Responsibility and assist in ensuring compliance with approved protocols.
- Study Coordination: Utilize nursing skills to manage research-related activities, including scheduling visits and conducting assessments.
- Participant Safety: Report any protocol violations or adverse events promptly to the PI to ensure participant welfare.
- Recruitment and Enrollment: Assist in planning recruitment strategies and determining participant eligibility.
- Data Management: Accurately document participant information and assist in data collection and management.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with participants regarding study updates and ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality control activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Professional Development: Engage in training and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills as a novice research nurse.
Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting is required.
Education: A diploma from an accredited nursing school is mandatory, along with a High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses and Certifications: Must obtain a Clinical Research Professional Certificate or Clinical Research Associate Certificate within the first year of employment, along with a valid Registered Nurse License and Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Skills: Proficiency in electronic health systems, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential.
This position is integral to the successful execution of clinical trials at Kaiser Permanente, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a compliant and ethical manner.
