Safety and Security Officer

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Weekend shift differential: 15%
Salary Range:
This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, facilities, and hospital property.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols throughout the facility to identify any illegal or inappropriate activities and address security or safety concerns.
- Provide assistance, information, and guidance proactively to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Perform internal and external rounds to maintain the safety and security of the premises and its occupants.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, ensuring thorough documentation of all activities.
- Assist clinical areas with uncooperative or potentially violent individuals, employing effective de-escalation techniques.
- Monitor patient watch activities to prevent elopement or harm to individuals.
- Implement restraints as directed by medical personnel and engage local law enforcement when necessary.
- Manage custody disputes and domestic disturbances occurring on the premises.
- Conduct searches of patients and visitors as required, including room and belongings searches.
- Respond to emergencies and code calls, performing CPR and utilizing AEDs as needed.
- Oversee parking lot compliance with facility regulations, issuing tickets for unauthorized vehicles and addressing safety hazards.
- Enforce company policies as directed by supervisory staff.
- Assist with parking management and special event preparations.
- Support helicopter operations for patient transport and manage the release of deceased patients.
- Complete all necessary forms, reports, and documentation as required.
- Fulfill assigned secondary duties and respond to duress alarms and emergency situations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Two years of relevant experience preferred.
- Direct security experience is highly desirable.
Licensure/Certifications Required
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record in accordance with company guidelines.
- Must maintain certifications in Taser, Handcuff, and Pepper Gel.
- Complete all required training and meet physical requirements within 90 days of hire.
- Obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within six months of hire.
