Job Summary

As a Security Officer Safety and Security Nights, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, facilities, and hospital property. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol all areas of the assigned facility to identify and address potential security and safety concerns.
  • Provide information, assistance, and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
  • Conduct internal and external rounds/patrols to ensure the safety and security of the facility, property, and occupants.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, documenting all incidents and activities as required.
  • Assist nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments with uncooperative, combative, or violent patients and visitors.
  • Effectively de-escalate situations and use appropriate AVADE techniques.
  • Provide patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self or others.
  • Apply restraints at the direction of the medical staff.
  • Contact local law enforcement as necessary.
  • Deal with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances occurring on campus.
  • Conduct patient and visitor searches when required and conduct room and belonging searching as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies and code calls.
  • Perform CPR, including the use of AEDs.
  • Monitor parking lots for compliance with facility parking regulations.
  • Ticket unauthorized parked cars.
  • Observe and follow up on safety hazards in parking areas.
  • Provide vehicle assistance services.
  • Enforce company policies as directed by a supervisor.
  • Assist with parking space and utilization.
  • Rearrange parking barricades to meet organizational needs and special events.
  • Assist parking officers with parking control and assistance.
  • Assist DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures.
  • Release deceased patients and accept incoming deceased patients.
  • Complete all required/requested forms, reports, and documents.
  • Complete assigned secondary duties.
  • Respond to duress alarms, calls for service, and other emergency situations.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate required.
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • Direct security experience highly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Must maintain Taser, Handcuff, and Pepper Gel certification.
  • Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter.
  • Must obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire.
