Job Overview

The Production Manager plays a crucial role in shaping and executing strategic supply chain initiatives. This position involves crafting and overseeing detailed production schedules that optimize resource use and maintain precise inventory levels to guarantee prompt product delivery. Key responsibilities include ensuring the seamless production of Zirconia products, encompassing planning for raw materials, capacity, components, and finished goods.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Transforms anticipated forecasts and incoming workloads into a structured production plan with a phased timeline.
  • Creates and applies a capacity planning framework to identify potential capacity challenges and suggest areas for enhancement.
  • Collaborates closely with planners to establish and uphold inventory levels that align with manufacturing schedules and forecasts, utilizing lean methodologies for optimal outcomes and timely deliveries.
  • Oversees load balancing and scheduling bottlenecks, employing the theory of constraints (TOC) for enhanced scheduling accuracy.
  • Partners with inventory management teams to ensure sufficient stock levels, minimize waste, and lower carrying expenses.
  • Monitors production capacity and adjusts as needed to adapt to fluctuating demands and maximize resource efficiency.
  • Develops and implements corrective measures to address the underlying causes of planning discrepancies.
  • Compares current and projected orders against available raw material inventories.
  • Analyzes past data and anticipates future demands to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Schedules demand based on product variety and equipment capabilities to provide precise commitment dates to the customer service team across various product lines.
  • Acts as a primary liaison among sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Provides financial input regarding operational plans for the sales and operations planning (SIOP) process, focusing on incoming volumes and capacity.
  • Integrates sales orders with the master schedule; coordinates the availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and personnel to meet delivery timelines.
  • Maintains the master distribution schedule for the designated facility; revises as necessary and informs relevant staff of any schedule modifications or delays.

Qualifications for Success:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Management, or a related field, coupled with 7+ years of experience in supply chain planning, preferably within a manufacturing or distribution context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing forecasting tools and best practices, including methods for developing forecasting models; PMP certification is a plus.
  • 5 to 7 years of project management experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications, with advanced skills in the MS Office suite and Windows operating system.
  • Skilled in working with spreadsheets and quickly adapting to new Excel functionalities.
  • Experience with order management systems and customer relationship management software.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage change effectively, and maintain a positive attitude while meeting deadlines.
  • Capable of grasping technical concepts through reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, as well as completing on-the-job training.
