Position Overview:


Texas Oncology is seeking a Clinical Research Oncology Nurse (RN) II to become a vital part of our team. This role is designed to support our oncology research initiatives.

This is a full-time position with a standard Monday to Friday schedule, ensuring no weekend, on-call, or holiday commitments.

Role Responsibilities:

This position presents a unique opportunity to work as a nurse within the realm of oncology clinical research. As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will provide care for patients undergoing innovative treatments in the oncology clinic.

This role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities while fostering meaningful relationships as you guide cancer patients throughout their treatment journey.

This is a mid-level exempt position responsible for the screening, enrollment, and ongoing management of patients participating in clinical trials.

Key duties include ensuring protocol adherence for all trial participants, facilitating the consent process, conducting ongoing assessments for changes in patient condition and adverse events, maintaining accurate and timely documentation/data entry, providing education and training to staff and patients, and serving as a liaison between departments to ensure proper trial execution.

Maintain research quality by adhering to US Oncology Research, Inc. (USOR) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA.

Support and comply with the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with physicians to identify and screen potential candidates for clinical trial participation.
  • Present trial concepts and details to oncology patients while guiding them through the informed consent process.
  • Monitor patients for adverse events and/or changes in their condition.
  • Educate staff and patients on the management and administration of investigational products.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and data entry to fulfill trial requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between clinic departments to guarantee proper trial conduct.
  • Oversee the preparation of physician orders to ensure protocol compliance.
  • Compile and report protocol activity, accrual data, and research financials to practice administration and physicians.
  • Maintain regulatory documents in accordance with USOR SOP and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in scheduling monitoring and auditing visits, interacting with monitors/auditors during their onsite visits.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary to achieve company objectives.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing education program is required (BSN preferred).
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS or ACLS certification is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience is required, preferably in oncology.
  • Willingness to consider junior or senior level candidates.
  • Previous management and/or leadership experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in clinical research is strongly preferred.
  • OCN certification is strongly preferred.
  • CCRC or CCRP certification is preferred.
