Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Slide Filing Specialist, under the guidance of the Accessioning Supervisor, plays a crucial role in supporting the internal slide management system of the organization. This individual is tasked with the systematic maintenance and organization of all anatomical and cytological slides. The Slide Filing Specialist will also engage in routine manual and physical tasks related to the upkeep of inventory (slides and blocks) within a pathology laboratory environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Regular collection of incoming slides from the accessioning department.
  • Slide retrieval from associated healthcare facilities.
  • Systematic filing of all slides and blocks at the laboratory.
  • Oversee the slide filing cabinets and notify the Supervisor when storage capacity is nearing its limit.
  • Assist in the selection of slides and their offsite relocation to optimize onsite storage.
  • Coordinate with Pathologists to aid in locating and preparing cases for examination.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and all relevant policies, including Privacy and Security protocols.
  • Follow all safety guidelines diligently.
  • Execute all job functions in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory standards to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive health information and company data.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Collaborate with various departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.
  • This job description does not limit management's authority to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualifications

Education and Licensure
  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
Experience
  • At least 6 months of experience in a filing role is preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds throughout the work shift.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
