POSITION SUMMARY:
We are actively seeking a Human Services Specialist III. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage and is located in Boyds, MD.


Individuals in this position may be required to join a Union, with fees and dues applicable as per the collective bargaining agreement.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct outreach to family members visiting inmates, providing education and information regarding addiction and available resources.
  • Distribute Narcan kits to interested family members and released inmates.
  • Engage with incoming inmates experiencing withdrawal from various substances.
  • Offer support and follow-up to JAS inmates transitioning back into the community.
  • Assist other clients of Adult Forensic Services facing addiction challenges as necessary.
  • Execute other related tasks as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Possession of State Peer Certification.
  • Participation in an active recovery program.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills in English.
  • Ability to analyze situations thoughtfully and choose appropriate actions.
  • Understanding and adherence to the duties, methods, and procedures required for the role.
  • Capability to effectively communicate with both large and small groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Requirements

*Education and Experience:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass the DOCR criminal background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
*Physical Requirements:

  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with potential evening and weekend hours as needed.
