Job Summary:

Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC) is seeking an Administrative Support Specialist to join our team in Germantown, MD. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will provide secretarial and general administrative support to ensure timely, effective, and professional responsiveness to customers. Your primary duties will include extensive typing, proof-reading, administrative quality control review, correspondence tracking, classified and sensitive document handling, telephone coverage, photocopying, scanning, filing, and retrieval of file and archive boxes containing documents.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a central files management system responsive to the OC staff
  • Maintain all files in accordance with the current Records Inventory and Disposition Schedule (RIDS)
  • Sort, package, and dispatch incoming and/or outgoing mail and internal departmental distribution, both classified and unclassified
  • Interface with the DOE Germantown mail room
  • Retrieve file and archive boxes containing documents
  • Receive and send facsimile documents
  • Create and maintain an electronic classified and unclassified reference library of previously generated documents using optical scanners
  • Operate facilities in accordance with all applicable DOE and U.S. Government directives and policies/procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Three (3) or more years' administrative experience
  • College-level education may substitute for professional experience, but this does not diminish the requirement for administrative skills
  • Typing (keyboarding/filing/clerical/basic computer graphics skills)
  • Detailed knowledge of the most recent version of office correspondence software programs (Microsoft Office components) and the ability to use automated office systems including email and the Internet
  • Knowledge of manual and electronic filing systems
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and subject areas
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday in office in Germantown, MD
  • Able to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers
  • DOE site access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with an ACTIVE DOE Q security clearance or DOD TS equivalent
  • Certain positions requiring a security clearance may require the periodic successful completion of a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination
  • Pre-employment and ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances will be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the DOE complex
  • Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation
  • Knowledge of computer graphics software and Federal Government records management requirements and procedures including RIDS
