Job Summary

The Texas A&M University System is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant to support the department of Athletics. As a Student Assistant, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while pursuing your academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the department of Athletics, including handling routine office inquiries and performing general office duties.
  • Assist with day-to-day maintenance and responsibilities of the assigned department, including clerical functions such as answering phones, filing, scheduling, and organizing.
  • Support Gameday operations as needed, ensuring a seamless experience for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Meet with students, faculty, and staff to provide information and support, demonstrating excellent customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Submit a FAFSA application annually to demonstrate financial need.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an alien registration eligible non-citizen status.
  • Meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using personal computer workstations with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements

  • Position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
  • Promptly complete all required training.
  • Input hours worked daily and submit time sheet biweekly.

Compensation

Salary: $8.00/hour for up to 19 hours
